Highlights of the year
This year feels like the start of my journey as an adult.
Working to live my own life as an IT network engineer, something I struggled to achieve in 2023.
This year is exceptional—my life keeps growing. The result of determination, self-belief, and God's guidance.
First Job
After my two-week freelance job as a network engineer ended, I immediately followed up with HR about the continuation of any upcoming projects.
Turns out, there was good news! There's a project for major Indonesian Internet Service Provider company that needs a network engineer.
Guess where it is...
I handled Cisco Backbone devices at PLN ICON+ under an 8-month contract from January to September 2024.
I learned so much during these 8 months, thanks to my supportive seniors and coworkers. I feel even more grateful for my decision to switch careers into network engineering.
And this experience has opened the door to an even bigger opportunity, sailing at the "Sea"
Sea
Actually on January 15, 2024—on my first day at ICON+, I received an interview invitation from someone.
Unfortunately, I had to decline it since I had already signed a contract for the project at ICON+ until September.
But I promised myself to try again when my contract is over.
August 5, 2024. That day finally came in. I applied for the same job at Shopee and got the chance for an interview!
The first interview was with HR. Since this is a multinational company, I expected the interview would be in English—and it was true.
The next day, I received a good news👀
After the HR interview, I know it was clear that the next round would also be in English.
But there was one thing I didn’t expect during the technical interview: the interviewer itself.
I wasn’t familiar with the name. Yes, it wasn’t an Indonesian name. Turns out, the interviewer was Singaporean!
Haha, I felt so excited and nervous at the same time. I never thought I’d be interviewed directly by someone from Singapore.
After the 1st round interview with the manager, turns out there was still one more step: a final interview with the senior manager. That made it a total of three interviews to join this company.
After completing the 2nd round, it took about half a month for me to receive the offer.
And finally, the moment I had been waiting for months...
I never thought I would be able to join the Shopee engineering team. All praise to Allah for making my journey this far easier.
Next Game
Even though my current job status is permanent, I won’t get too comfortable.
I still have bigger goals to achieve, one of them can be reached by pursuing higher certifications.
The game will continue, until I, as a person, can finally be useful to others.
